TRIP TO THE KENYA NATIONAL MUSEUM

Eighteen in number, we set off at quarter past nine for our trip to National Museum of Kenya in Nairobi.

Our journey was smooth and well animated all through by the excited language students. This time traffic jam was no hindrance…… By 10 o’clock, we were there! Tickets bought and then a tour guide allocated to us… he took us through the various parts of the museum and unearthed quite interesting history about Kenyan nature and human development to date…

The tour guide gave us a brief introduction of how the Kenyan museum came about. He told us that the role of the national museums of Kenya is to preserve, collect, document and present Kenya’s past and present cultural and natural heritage. What a knowledgeable young man about his country and what a passion for the nation’s heritage!

The exhibitions ranged from bird species, human evolution, wild and domestic animals, tools used by early man, sculptures, art gallery etc. to the unbelievable details of Kenyan history.

We culminated our tour by visiting the snake park. A small zoo featured with a wide range of snakes, crocodiles, tortoises in glass and open-air enclosures.

After our visit to the museum, we drove to Pronto hotel at upper hill where we had our delicious lunch amidst extreme fun, cheers, laughers and humor.

We enjoyed the Kenyan favorite cuisine Nyama choma!

The whole experience was educative, exciting and above all entrancing. We appreciated the diversity of Kenyan cultures.

It was a nice experience accompanying and interacting with our Language students. Worth repeating. Viva CLC – Nairobi!
